About us

Lord Ponsonby once said ''If West Chiltington Church was in Italy,
people would make pilgrimages to it".

West Chiltington is a village full of charming cottages, winding lanes and friendly shops and pubs. It is this unique charm that makes the village so special. The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Cilletune and one of the earliest buildings must have been the beautiful little church which still stands center stage in the midst of the village.

The Queen’s Head has been a pub for hundreds of years and is named after Anne of Cleves who lived in the village after Henry VIII provided a home here as part of their divorce settlement.

Siân and Phil, the landlords of the Queen’s Head, came to the village and the pub in November 2007. They would like to welcome you, just as they have been welcomed, to both the village and the pub and wish you every enjoyment during your visit.

Areas of interest include: St Mary’s Church, Cissbury Ring and Chanctonbury Ring.
